The Customer Energy Management Associate is a customer-focused professional who supports the delivery of energy management programs, customer initiatives, and account management activities for their assigned portfolio of customers (e.g. commercial, institutional, municipal, and multi-residential customers, residential). Working as part of a cross-functional team and reporting to the Manager, Customer Energy Management, the Associate helps customers identify opportunities, navigate programs and services, and achieve their energy, operational, and long-term business objectives. The role combines customer relationship management, program support, project coordination, analytical reporting, and stakeholder engagement responsibilities. The Associate manages a portfolio of accounts while supporting broader customer strategies and initiatives led by senior team members. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages a portfolio of customer accounts, serving as a primary point of contact for routine inquiries, program participation, and customer support activities.

Maintains accurate customer records, program documentation, and reporting information in departmental systems and databases.

REQUIREMENTS:

Undergraduate degree in Business, Energy Management, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Engineering, Economics, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
Minimum three (3) years of relevant professional experience in customer service, account management, program delivery, project coordination, energy management, sustainability, utility operations, or a related field.
Knowledge of electricity conservation programs, electrification initiatives, energy management principles, or utility operations is considered an asset.

REQUIREMENTS:

Undergraduate degree in Engineering (preferably in Electrical, Information Systems, Geography/GIS, or a related discipline); an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

WORK ILLUSTRATION:

Reporting to a Manager, the incumbent provides a wide range of technical services for internal and external customers, which confirm technical soundness, reliability, safety and cost effectiveness of the utility. An Engineer is accountable and legally responsible to prepare, review and sign/stamp engineering drawings, calculations, standards, technical specifications etc.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Business Technology, Analytics or related field.
Five (5) years of experience in customer and stakeholder management, data analysis, gap analysis, reporting results, process improvement, identification of areas for improvement and development of new initiatives.
Equivalent experience in a related customer-focused field will also be considered.
Models’ customer focused behavior in all actions and decisions, particularly when interacting directly with customers.

The Manager, Stations (field) directs, supervises and coordinates work related to the operation, installation, construction, repairs, maintenance, commissioning and decommissioning all types of substation equipment, protective relay and control systems, station metering, distribution automation equipment, and SCADA systems. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accountable for the delivery of capital and maintenance work programs efficiently and on time.
Provide guidance, coaching and leadership to staff to achieve maximum productivity and promote a positive & professional work environment and maintain customer trust.

REQUIREMENTS:

MEA Substation Electrician Journeyperson Certification or Certified Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or Electrical Engineer (P.Eng) highly preferred.
Minimum seven (7) years of experience in overall substations operations and equipment
Five (5) years supervisory or project management experience; preferably in electrical distribution, station and system planning, design and construction.
Must have a valid “G” in the Province of Ontario.
Familiar with relevant legislation including Occupational Health and Safety Act, Toronto Hydro/EUSA Rule Book, Utility Work Protection Code, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods.

Reporting to the Manager of Stations & Distribution Automation, the Engineer will join a highly skilled engineering team, tasked with the upkeep and expansion of critical electrical infrastructure found in municipal transmission and distribution substations. Projects involve the installation, alteration, extension and/or repair of a variety of electrical equipment; controlled, monitored and/or automated by complex circuity, electronics, and advanced communication networks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide both conceptual and detailed design services for substation capital and reactive maintenance projects
Co-ordinate projects, prepare cost estimates, and collaborate with key stakeholders, including: equipment suppliers, contractors, and other utilities
Perform engineering studies and/or calculations, including: short circuit analysis, load flows, arc flash hazard assessments, protective device coordination, equipment selection & sizing, protection relay settings, and ground grid design
Develop equipment testing and commissioning plans, witness and approve equipment FAT, SAT testing
Configure and program SEL and GE station control systems, protection relays and distribution system network communications equipment
Prepare, provide guidance or assist engineering staff with the creation or modification of single line and three line diagrams, AC/DC electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical layout and elevation drawings
Research, evaluate, test and recommend station equipment
Provide technical field support for operations staff
Develop standards and specifications
Plan and design processes, operational procedures, and safe work practices
Participate in short term and long term strategic planning
Prepare engineering or business reports (both oral and written)
Review, develop or present business proposals
Participate on committees or project teams as required on a wide variety of business initiatives
Support senior management on ad-hoc assignments
Mentoring and training designers and team members
Provide engineering support for Metrolinx transit expansion projects across Toronto—including LRT, subway, and GO Corridor works—by coordinating design, construction, commissioning, and maintenance activities while ensuring Toronto Hydro standards and asset protection requirements are met.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred)
Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario
6+ years of Engineering experience
Must hold valid Class “G” Drivers License.
Proficiency in IEC 61850 GOOSE messaging protocol, including configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of peer‑to‑peer protection and control signals within utility communication networks is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of protection and control concepts preferred
Familiarity with various station equipment, including switchgear, breakers and power transformers; proficiency in programming GE and SEL protection relays preferred
Familiarity with SCADA systems, RTUs and data concentrators; station network topologies; relevant ethernet and serial communication protocols; copper, fiber optic and wireless communication systems preferred
Experience in the development of protection philosophies and the application of substation protection schemes
Proficiency in system modeling using engineering analysis software such CYME, ETAP or SKM an asset
Knowledge of, and ability to look-up and correctly interpret relevant industry standards, including: CSA, ANSI, IEC and IEEE; relevant code, including: OESC, NESC, DSC, TSC, OBC, EUSR and UWPC; and relevant legislation, including: OHSA and Reg. 22/04
Familiarity with distribution system automation technologies
Strong written and verbal communication skills demonstrated through report writing and delivering presentations
Demonstrated competence in computer programming
Project management skills with the ability to organize the project, work with key stakeholders, manage project risks, and deliver projects on time and within budget
General knowledge of overhead and underground distribution system design
Customer focused and demonstrates a pro-active service orientation; must be able to meet customer needs in a flexible but cost-effective manner
