The Senior Commercial Services Counsel delivers strategic day-to-day commercial legal advice, consultation, research and guidance to internal business units on real property, construction and procurement/commercial-related matters. Acting as the primary legal contact for assigned business units, in particular Toronto Hydro’s Facilities and Real Property business units, the Senior Commercial Services Counsel prepares legal responses and documentation, and advises on real property rights, and drafts and negotiates easements, licence agreements, agreements of purchase and sale, connection agreements and purchase of goods and services agreements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works with assigned business units and internal stakeholders to provide accurate and timely commercial legal advice that supports business objectives and mitigates corporate risk in the contracting of commercial terms and conditions on behalf of the corporation and its affiliates
Delivers clear and practical legal opinions, interpretations, and advice on legal matters that involves interpreting facts, precedents, and evaluating situations in compliance with policies as well as all applicable laws and statutes
Drafts and reviews real property, construction and procurement/commercial documents (e.g., easements, licence agreements, agreements of purchase and sale, connection agreements, purchase of goods and services agreements and request for proposals) and provides advice to support timely, quality, and cost‑effective delivery
Conducts legal research on emerging issues, best practices, current case law and renders interpretations of statutes, regulations, with a focus on real property, to inform commercial legal services strategy and issues management activities
Participates in policy development where legal services are provided
Liaises with external counsel to negotiate and execute agreements in support of the organization’s capital and maintenance work programs and customer-initiated projects

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or Juris Doctor (JD)
A member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
Three (3) or more years of experience (articling experience accepted) in real property, construction and/or commercial law
Knowledge of real property, construction and/or commercial law
Experience working on easements is preferred
Experience in utilities, construction or infrastructure projects is an asset
Knowledge of legislation and common law impacting the organization
Proven judgment, analytical and problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to distill legal information and frame for legal and business user consumption
Proven negotiation and stakeholder management skills

The Government Relations Consultant is responsible for executing energy policy, advocacy, and issues management activities in support of the organization’s corporate objectives and supporting engagement with federal and provincial stakeholders. WORK ILLUSTRATION:

Reporting to a Manager, the incumbent provides a wide range of technical services for internal and external customers, which confirm technical soundness, reliability, safety and cost effectiveness of the utility. An Engineer is accountable and legally responsible to prepare, review and sign/stamp engineering drawings, calculations, standards, technical specifications etc.

REQUIREMENTS:

Registered as a Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario.

The Capital and Maintenance Program Analyst is responsible for the effective business operations associated with Toronto Hydro-Electric Systems Limited (THESL) Capital program. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops trusted relationships with the City of Toronto (e.g. Mayor’s Office, City Councillors and their offices, senior City Administration), City-related agencies and corporations, and municipal stakeholders to collaboratively advance organizational strategies and plans
Develops trusted relationships with the Federal and Provincial Governments, elected leaders and their staff, the senior Public Service, and related stakeholders to cultivate opportunities for Toronto Hydro through legislation, regulation, programs, and other government initiatives that align with the utility’s objectives
Preserves and builds upon Toronto Hydro’s positioning as a key stakeholder and participant in policy and other processes of the Ontario Energy Board, Independent Electricity System Operator, and uses that positioning to effectively influence frameworks and policies
Leads and mentors a team of high-performing government relations and regulatory professionals, enabling curiosity, creativity, sound judgment, motivated high-performance, teamwork, and delivery of top-quality products for internal and external use
Serves as Toronto Hydro’s representative in numerous governmental, regulatory, and industry association (e.g. Electricity Canada, Ontario Energy Association, Electricity Distributors Association, Toronto Region Board of Trade) forums, demonstrating the best expression of the company’s corporate values and culture
Designs and executes a high‑performance policy advocacy strategy, developing policy positions that support the organization’s corporate strategy, business objectives, and investment priorities across both near and long‑term horizons
Designs and executes plans to monitor government activities at all three levels, identifies issues and manages them to resolution, and oversees the preparation of sophisticated internal reporting products that effectively translate the complexities of the evolving governmental, regulatory, and policy landscape into digestible and actionable internal reports, and delivers those through exceptional presentation skills to senior leadership

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, Law, or a related field
A minimum of ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of experience in government relations or public policy roles within a corporation operating in a heavily regulated industry, and/or in senior policy or leadership positions within the public sector or major government relations firms
Five (5) or more years of progressive leadership experience
Extensive knowledge of municipality structures and operations, including the City of Toronto
Demonstrated experience building relationships and effective partnerships across organizations and with senior leaders, regulators and industry stakeholders
Extensive knowledge of and engagement with the Ontario Energy Board and Independent Electricity System Operator, especially with respect to policies, codes, and the processes in which those are created and amended
Strong understanding of federal and provincial energy policy and regulations
Knowledge of regulatory laws within the commercial context
Excellent presentation and written communication skills, with a proven ability to negotiate and influence
Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and issues management skills

The Director of Regulatory Affairs leads the development and execution of Toronto Hydro’s regulatory strategy. Leading major rate and other regulatory applications, this role also oversees regulatory analytics and regulatory law functions which includes ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements. Leads the design, development and execution of complex, multi-year regulatory strategies and rate application workplans, rate models, forecasts, studies, and other high-quality evidence
Provides strategic, expert advice directly, and through a team of professionals, to collaboratively integrate regulatory with corporate strategy, capital investment planning, business planning, risk management, and other significant internal processes

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Public Policy or a related field
A minimum of ten (10) to fifteen (15) of regulatory experience with a corporation in a heavily regulated industry, and/or a federal or provincial regulator
Demonstrated leadership experience in at least one (1) major rebasing rate application for a large, regulated utility
Five (5) or more years of progressive leadership experience
Extensive knowledge of the Ontario Energy Board (OEB), its processes and precedents
Knowledge of OEB regulations, codes, policies, record-keeping and reporting requirements, and rate application filing requirements
Knowledge of the Independent Electricity System Operator and its processes associated with the wholesale market as they are applicable to regulated electricity distributors
Knowledge of regulatory laws within the commercial context
Regulatory analytics, financial analysis and political acumen
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or Juris Doctor (JD) is considered an asset, with membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario required where legal credentials are held
Excellent presentation and written communication skills, with a proven ability to negotiate and influence
Proven ability to manage changing priorities and work effectively in ambiguous settings

Fleet Mechanic (Toronto, ON, CA)

Expected Salary Range: $43.95 - $56.08 Hourly

Days/Shifts: 40 hours per week, evening shift (Monday-Thursday evening shift (2:30pm to 12:30am).

The Fleet Mechanic inspects, repairs, and maintains automotive, mobile, hydraulic, portable, and stationary equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrates safety awareness and adheres to safety rules and regulations
Familiar with Occupational Health and Safety Act, Utility, and EUSA Rule Books
Conducts and/or directs work in a manner that is sensitive to customer and public needs
Performs inspections and tests on vehicles and equipment and completes documentation as required
Diagnose and perform maintenance and repairs to vehicles and equipment as required
Uses gas and electric welding equipment for repair work and fabrications
Processes work orders and inspection forms as required
Maintains work equipment and tools in a safe working condition
Maintain, update and prepare files, reports, records and documentation
Initiate, receive and satisfy inquiries or complaints by telephone, in person or by correspondence
Performs duties of equal or lower classification providing they are within their experience and training, Operates vehicle and associated equipment

REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a Truck and Coach Technician Certificate (310T)
Automotive Service Technician Certificate (310S) preferred
Valid Class “DZ” Driver's Licence in the Province of Ontario preferred, or willing to obtain if selected
Thorough knowledge of hydraulics
Ontario Grade 12 or equivalent
Knowledgeable in safety regulations, rules, and procedures
Demonstrated experience in a variety of business computer software packages
Proficiency using diagnostic tools and software (e.g., Cummins, INSITE, etc.)
Experience working with Drive On
Ability to diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on engine systems
Ability to interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service data
