WORK ILLUSTRATION:

 

Reporting to the Director, IT Modernization, the Senior Manager, Data Governance and Advanced Analytics will be for managing organizational data governance strategy, data processes, framework and procedures. The incumbent develops standards, practices, tools and measures to drive outcomes in data asset reliability and security, balancing requirements with legislative compliance and business unit operational needs. The incumbent develops and leads the implementation of the advanced analytics technology road map including technologies in artificial intelligence, data science in the cloud, machine learning and predictive modeling. The role collaborates proactively with business to support advanced analytical solutions that leverage data science technologies to derive actionable insights and predictive analysis for organizational decision making. In addition, leads the technology research efforts to explore new technologies, assess their potential impact, and support in conducting in-depth research on emerging technologies.

 

The incumbent is expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies and internal control procedures, laws and regulations governing Toronto Hydro.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Leads internal and external resources to execute advanced analytics projects and other departmental and organizational outcomes.
•    Develops roadmap, architecture framework, data processes and procedures/program for organizational electronic and physical records data governance.
•    Collaborates proactively with business to understand their analytics needs, identify opportunities, develops and implements advanced analytics information technology solutions
•    Oversees the end-to-end process of data collection, cleansing, analysis, and interpretation to confirm high-quality and actionable results leading to strategic decision making within the organization.
•    Manages governance, policies, procedures and practices to support secure creation, operation, storage and retention of organizational data in compliance with industry regulations and standards related to data governance
•    Defines and implements key performance indicators, tools and support to drive organizational data governance program outcomes and promote best practices in data governance and continuously enhance the value derived from data assets
•    Drives policies that keep the organization compliant with best practices, standards and applicable legislation and support business units to meet day-to-day operational objectives
•    Leads the engagement and communication efforts for organizational data governance policies and practices to establish data quality standards.
•    Conducts research and continuously reviews systems, processes and practices to strengthen and improve governance, value and mitigate risk and support data analytics platforms and needs.
•    Monitors and analyzes technological advancements and trends relevant to the industry, evaluating their potential impact on the organizational operations
•    Drives innovation and establishes best practices, standards, and methodologies for advanced analytics within the organization.
                                           

 

COMPETENCIES:      

•    Undergraduate degree in business, information technology, data science, engineering (or related field)
•    Master’s degree (preferred)
•    Certification in data analytics (preferred)
•    Ten (10) years of experience in Information Technology
•    Three (3) years of progressive advanced data analytics and governance experience
•    Five (5) years of progressive leadership experience (senior technical, large program/project leadership) 
•    Five (5) years of project/program management experience
    Proven experience in advanced analytics, machine learning, and data science, with a track record of delivering impactful analytical solutions strongly preferred
•    Knowledge of best practices (frameworks, systems and processes) in the areas of information technology, data governance, advanced analytics and records retention
•    Championing collaboration, outstanding cross-functional partnership and communication skills, including interacting with senior leadership
•    Knowledge of statistical analysis, predictive modeling, machine learning techniques and cloud technology

Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs.  Employees will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
