The Climate Action Partnerships Consultant is responsible for developing strategies and enabling collaborations to drive energy efficiency and electrification. The Consultant builds and maintains relationships with cleantech service providers and channel partners to promote key programs and initiatives, and guides both industry partners and customers in leveraging tools and education to enable strategic decision-making. The incumbent will engage with customers and other marketplace partners to help customers accelerate decarbonization through electrification of building heating, hot water, and transportation; implementation of energy efficiency; and behind-the-meter solutions such as solar and battery storage.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Proactively establishes and nurtures strategic partnerships with multiple external stakeholders to enhance the organization’s climate action offerings
- Leads market, scenario and feasibility analysis to support business cases and other Toronto Hydro decision-making consistent with corporate and climate action department strategies. Stays up to date with market research methodologies and best practices to continuously improve effectiveness of insights
- Develops and executes multi-channel engagement and outreach campaigns to motivate customers to decarbonize.
- Undertakes research and analysis as needed to support capacity building toward customer climate action. Recommends areas of service improvements and provides data required to support recommendations, investment decisions and energy efficiency program development.
- Prepares and presents reports and insights to guide decision making, inform business cases, and influence team priorities.
- Undertakes a visible presence in the marketplace and remains abreast of general marketplace, the emerging aspects of energy efficiency and electrification and relevant association issues in their sector.
- Identifies internal and external barriers to energy efficiency and climate action, and works with peers and partners to develop and implement opportunities for strategic collaboration
- Identifies opportunities to promote incentive programs, provide training on program implementation, connect customers with pre-qualified trade allies
- Reports and maintains records of climate action related customer interactions with quality and accuracy. Provides analysis and insight into customer behaviors to support management decision making.
REQUIREMENTS:
- University degree in related field
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Masters level education preferred
- Seven (7) years of professional experience in customer engagement, climate action, conservation programs or the electrical industry
- Experience in capacity building and education
- Class “G” driver’s license
- Strong project management, analysis and problem-solving skills
- Strong understanding of programs, design and and paths to decarbonization for buildings
- Strong influence and negotiation skills; ability to persuade or influence others to adopt or accept a point of view or take a course of action.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with well-established stakeholder management skills
- Proven customer focus with demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with internal customers, external providers, and industry contacts
- Strong organizational skills and ability to track, monitor and report results to senior management in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated high performance in building relationships and effective partnerships within and across organizations
- Results-oriented approach, with the experience and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team in a considerate way, including the ability to mediate and find common ground in areas of disagreement
- Experience in successfully managing projects from start to finish, including planning and stakeholder coordination
- Ability to manage targets and customer service KPIs
This position is based in a hybrid environment allowing for remote work two days per week, based on business needs. Employees will be required to come onsite Tuesday to Thursday. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
