Reporting to the Supervisor, Asset Attachment and Leases or Project Execution, the SDS Analyst is responsible for the effective business operations associated with the Secondary Distribution Services group.  Responsibilities include; data gathering, data analysis, identifying gap/variance/trend, conducting research and preparing reports, leading or supporting department projects and programs and providing recommendations against findings to support departmental performance objectives.  Additionally, the role provides support to leaders in the day-to-day operations of the group.

 

The Incumbent is expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies and internal control procedures, laws and regulations governing Toronto Hydro.

 

Successful candidates must possess the following competencies and will be pre-screened for those marked with a (Ö), prior to the interview portion of the selection process. Competencies are listed in order of significance.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support to leaders in the monthly reporting of programs (scorecards, KPIs, dashboards, etc.); gather data, analyze and identify gaps and variances (plan vs. actual) of programs; provide timely and accurate reporting; provide financial and departmental performance metric reporting on a weekly and monthly basis; assist leaders in setting budgets and forecast/estimate for new or emerging costs; prepare documents, presentations and reports
  • Ensure continuous improvement, identify business processes and establish performance standards related to Secondary Distribution Services programs and initiatives.  Recommend changes to business processes and system rules while ensuring requirements are being met
  • Analyze functional problems and determine and/or recommend best alternatives for resolving issues to the Department leaders
  • Provide operational support to the department leaders on key projects as well as other day to day tasks
  • Support the successful management of projects through all phases.  This includes but is not limited to; managing proxy emails, updating databases & other information systems, project tracking, facilitating meetings, document/report preparation, liaising with stakeholders, administrative tasks, etc.
  • Coordinate and support leaders in the management and development of contracts between clients and/or contractors and Toronto Hydro; including liaising with business units, external agencies and/or other stakeholders
  • Assist with review of billing, inventory usage & tracking, audits, etc. as required

     

    COMPETENCIES:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration or related discipline
  • Experience in business process redesign, analysis for business projects, identification of areas for improvement and development of new initiatives, business and contract administration
  • Advanced knowledge of computer applications i.e. MS Office, specifically Access and Excel, experience working with data collection and analysis software
  • Project management experience; Professional designation (i.e. PMP) considered an asset
  • Experience in an operationally focused and/or customer service environment preferred
  • 1 – 3 years’ experience in compiling and presenting reports; must be detailed oriented
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
