Payroll Specialist

Payroll Specialist – Analyst (6-12 months contract)


Reporting to the Supervisor, the Payroll & Disbursements Analyst will primarily focus on Time Keeping and Payroll tasks as assigned by the Supervisor. The successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks using highly sensitive and confidential information for the preparation, processing and maintenance of payroll and time keeping records for the company.




  • Support the Payroll and Disbursements supervisor in managing the exception list of invoices
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve any issues regarding invoices and payments
  • Respond to internal business units and external suppliers’ queries regarding payment in a timely manner
  • Support the third party outsourcing company in resolving invoice processing issues
  • Process internal payment runs as needed
  • Issue stop payments, wire payments, etc. as needed
  • Other tasks as assigned



  • College Diploma or University Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Commerce.
  • Working towards PCP or PCP completion
  • 3-5 years in payroll/time keeping function.
  • Support the processing of accounts payroll for all internal employees (approximately 1,600)
  • Cyclical periods of high stress working under pressure of critical projects and hard deadlines. 
  • Some authority to apply judgment to independently resolve Accounts Payable issues.
  • Good knowledge of “invoice to cheque” functionality, including segregation of duties using an ERP system – incumbent is expected to become an expert in this area.
  • Excellent knowledge of overall “Procure to Pay” process and control principles
  • Problem solving and decision making skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Excel skills
  • SAP skills beneficial
