The final salary offered will be determined based on a holistic assessment of the candidate’s experience, education, training, and alignment with the role’s requirements. Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain & Logistics, the Manager, Supply Chain Services plays a key role in advancing Toronto Hydro’s supply chain transformation with a specific focus on category management excellence.

 

This role is responsible for evolving current procurement and supply management practices into a more strategic, insight-driven, and value-focused function. The Manager will bring leading market practices, tools, and approaches to enhance category strategies, optimize supplier performance, and enable better decision-making across the enterprise.

 

The Manager, Supply Chain Services will lead a team responsible for multiple spend categories, driving improved outcomes in total cost of ownership, service levels, supplier innovation, and risk mitigation—while supporting the organization’s broader capital and operational objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development and execution of category management and strategic sourcing strategies across assigned spend areas, leveraging market intelligence, modern tools, and best practices to optimize total cost of ownership, supplier performance, and service outcomes
  • Drive supply chain and category management transformation, advancing capabilities, standardizing processes, and embedding leading practices, analytics, and governance frameworks and metric development to improve decision-making, scalability, and overall effectiveness
  • Manage end-to-end supplier lifecycle activities, including sourcing, contract negotiation, performance management, and relationship development, ensuring alignment to cost, quality, reliability, risk, and innovation objectives
  • Oversee the implementation of the next generation of AI and technology tools within the Sourcing process to find further efficiencies to drive overall customer satisfaction
  • Oversee day-to-day supply chain operations and team performance, ensuring effective execution of strategies, compliance with policies, and delivery against defined KPIs, while building team capability in category management and commercial acumen
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to challenge demand levers, reshape sourcing strategies, develop strong vendor management principles and relationships, and build cost efficiency views into all scopes of work, all to be accomplished in a in a dynamic operating environment
  • Champion continuous improvement and operational excellence, implementing process enhancements, SOPs, and performance metrics to drive productivity, transparency, and accountability
  • Identify and mitigate category and supply risks, including supplier dependency, market volatility, and supply continuity, while ensuring adherence to regulatory, legal, and internal control requirements
  • Provide data-driven insights, reporting, and recommendations to support strategic planning, budgeting, and decision-making across the organization

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience); SCMP or equivalent designation preferred or in progress
  • Five (5)+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, procurement, or category management, with demonstrated success in strategic sourcing and category management transformation
  • Strong expertise in category management practices, sourcing strategies, contract negotiation, and supplier performance management, with a focus on total cost of ownership and value creation
  • Proven ability to apply market intelligence, analytics, and modern tools/techniques to drive better category insights and decision-making
  • Solid understanding of procurement best practices, law of tendering, risk management, and governance frameworks
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including leading teams, driving change, and building capability in category management and commercial acumen
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and continuous improvement skills, with the ability to deliver measurable outcomes
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across the organization
  • Results-driven with a strong sense of accountability, customer focus, and commitment to innovation and operational excellence

This position is based in a hybrid environment allowing for remote work two days per week, based on business needs. Employees will be required to come onsite Tuesday to Thursday. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
