The final salary offered will be determined based on a holistic assessment of the candidate’s experience, education, training, and alignment with the role’s requirements. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Capital Projects (Ex Ag Initiated), the Manager, Project Planning and Execution is responsible for the day-to-day management of the assigned portfolio associated with Toronto Hydro’s externally initiated and transit projects, including project planning, customer connections, engineering evaluations, development of coordination agreements, design reviews, execution of projects using approved contractors, auditing and inspections. They will also manage relationships with stakeholders, to guide, review and coordinate activities between connection impacts and work execution.
The incumbent will be responsible for internal and external stakeholder reporting, including tracking and reporting on project performance, and acting to mitigate day-to-day issues and risks as required, to ensure adherence to Toronto Hydro’s terms and conditions of required service agreements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads the execution and coordination for large-scale design & construction projects under the mandate of applicable provincial regulations
- Manages and mitigates day-to-day issues and risks to ensure project/plan attainment, on schedule and as per budget
- Leads a team of technical professionals to deliver day-to-day program support while providing guidance and direction to team members, managing safety, attendance, performance and development for all identified internal resources.
- Acts as primary point of contact to assigned projects and stakeholders for the escalation, mitigation and resolution of day-to-day issues at the operational project level
- Oversees the planning, design, and engineering review including third-party engineering assessment review
- Performs extensive feasibility studies
- Leads specialized third-party engineering reviews including: engineering review of structural drawings, load/vibration calculations, and shoring designs.
- Supervises requirements and specifications when assets are transferred for energization, including review of 3rd party inspections/auditing prior to energization
- Acts as a liaison between internal and external stakeholder groups to strengthen relationships and enhance the overall customer experience.
- Leads the day-to-day relationships with external contractor vendors to project/program attainment completion, including delivery of contractor orientation, safety management, adherence to standards and quality, site plan approval, schedule attainment, resourcing and budget attainment
- Tracks and reports on all aspects of project performance (schedule adherence, project status reporting, identified key performance indicators, resource balancing, scope, budget/financial management)
- Manages, tracks and reviews funding allocations to project allocations aligned to parameters outlined in Toronto Hydro/terms and conditions of services agreement
- Establishes and negotiates terms and conditions to support services agreement and manages, monitors and administers all aspects of the day-to-day operational contractual agreement between Toronto Hydro and assigned Projects
- Leads, supports or participates in organization-wide strategic initiatives
- Supports the organizational risk identification and mitigation process
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Electrical Preferred)
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in the Province of Ontario
- Five (5) or more years of engineering design, planning, construction and/or commercial project execution experience
- Five (5) or more years of progressive supervisory/project leadership experience
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated financial acumen with expertise in managing project budgets and delivering accurate financial reporting preferred
- Hands-on experience overseeing large-scale construction projects and programs considered an asset
- Experience with program/portfolio management – demonstrated experience managing Engineering/Procurement/Construction Projects
- Experience in leading the execution of large-scale projects – inception, design to in service; Knowledge of transportation projects an asset
- Experience in project tracking and reporting and financial management
- Knowledge of utility design and construction standards
- Knowledge of offers to connect, coordination agreements, third party contract management, contract administration, vendor management
- Demonstrated project management skills

- Strong ability in building partnerships with external parties and internal groups
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

This position is based in a hybrid environment allowing for remote work two days per week, based on business needs. Employees will be required to come onsite Tuesday to Thursday. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
