The Employee Engagement and Communication Specialist is accountable for the planning and implementation of engagement and communication programs in support of corporate change programs, large projects, and the annual corporate engagement strategy. The incumbent will work under the direction and supervision of the Manager, Employee Engagement and Communications, and will support initiatives lead by senior leaders and managers, consultants and project managers. It is the primary responsibility of the position to ensure that employees and leaders understand and are engaged in all relevant initiatives at Toronto Hydro.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:                                           

  • Manage and maintain the Toronto Hydro Corporate intranet in conjunction with stakeholders from across the organization
  • Plan and implement large scale employee and community engagement activities and events
  • Develop communication programs to support internal employee communications and Human Resources, Environment, and Safety program initiatives
  • Support the engagement and communication activities for corporate projects and initiatives.
  • Build a network of quality external suppliers of communication services
  • Support the Manager, Employee Engagement and Communications in the development and execution of the annual engagement plan
     

COMPETENCIES:                                                       

  • Bachelor’s/ Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Communications, Human Resources, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience developing and implementing communications programs using a full range of media in support of significant corporate initiatives
  • Must have class “G” license for travel to various work locations and external events
  • Knowledge and experience in designing large scale employee engagement and change management initiatives and events
  • Superior research, writing and editorial skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Project planning and management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Experience with using web-based platforms (e.g. Final Cut, Sharepoint)
  • Ability to build strong relationships across various functions to execute projects effectively
  • Demonstrates customer focus
  • Fully versed in all forms of media including but limited to video, slide presentations, audio, web tools, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrates a commitment to sustainability, environment, health and safety
  • Able to manage and reset priorities in a rapidly changing environment

 
Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs.  Employees will also be required to come on-site on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the Toronto Hydro offices.
