KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops comprehensive total rewards and performance management strategies that align with organizational objectives for both management and unionized employees.
- Prepares clear and practical compensation and benefits program materials and guidelines to support consistent application across the organization.
- Oversees total rewards systems and processes, including costing, to maintain alignment with corporate compensation philosophy and policy for active employees and retirees.
- Provides evidence-based support through written and oral defense for compensation programs as part of regulatory applications and proceedings.
- Directs the job evaluation process and salary placement, ensuring internal equity and competitiveness through market data and benchmarking.
- Manages compensation structures and job leveling, maintaining fairness and supporting organizational philosophy.
- Leads the organization’s employee performance management strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities and total rewards programs.
- Communicates employee performance management processes and key activities, linking them to total rewards strategies where applicable.
- Leads a team of professionals and support staff, fostering collaboration and excellence in delivering total rewards and performance management programs.
- Collaborates closely with Finance to ensure accurate cost reporting and alignment with budgetary requirements.
- Participates in collective bargaining, contributing expertise on compensation and benefits matters.
- Plans, executes, and reports on performance management systems for unionized and non-union employees.
REQUIREMENTS:
- University degree in Business, Human Resources or related discipline.
- Ten (10) or more years of progressive Human Resources experience, including expertise in areas such as compensation and benefits, performance management, job evaluation, organizational development, talent management, employee relations and HR program design and implementation.
- Five (5) or more years of progressive leadership experience with previous experience in a senior leadership role.
- Master’s level degree preferred.
- Compensation Professional designation (CCP) (preferred).
- Benefits Professional designation (CBP) (preferred).
- Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) (preferred).
- Knowledge of human resources best practices (processes and systems) in the areas of compensation and benefits, performance management systems and job evaluation.
- Experience and understanding of payroll management and HR systems an asset.
- Solid knowledge of electric utility operations and key performance measures.
- Current knowledge of regulatory framework and rules.
- Superior analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated experience influencing change and engaging relevant stakeholders.
- Superior financial acumen.
- Project and process management skills.
- Strategic and innovative thinking skills.
This position is based in a hybrid environment allowing for remote work two days per week, based on business needs. Employees will be required to come onsite Tuesday to Thursday. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
