Senior Tax Consultant/Analyst  (Contract – 12 months)


The incumbent will be responsible for assisting the Manager, Taxation in the effective and efficient administration of the corporation and its affiliates income and commodity tax obligations; including but not limited to Federal and Provincial Corporate income tax, Federal Goods and Services tax, Ontario Retail Sales tax, Ontario Fuel and Excise taxes, payroll tax, and other taxes as the need arises - with a focus on tax accounting, reporting, compliance, planning and research.


The Senior Tax Consultant contributes to the overall success of the organization by effectively supervising financial activities for Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited (“THESL” or the “organization”).





  • Coordination of the quarter end and yearend financial statement corporate tax process
  • Completion and filing of corporate income tax returns and related working papers
  • Performance and review of tax research and tax planning
  • First point of contact with external auditors and consultants
  • Provide corporate tax advice to various business units
  • Prepare, assist and deliver presentations to various business units
  • Review and preparation of internal tax opinions; Review and preparation of month end tax entries to the general ledger
  • Deliver various tax technical presentations throughout the year to internal clients.






  • Completion of undergraduate bachelor’s degree and a professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA);
  • Strong accounting background obtained through a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a public accounting firm or equivalent industry experience gained at a large corporation preferred
  • Completion of CICA In Depth Tax course or Mtax program desirable
  • Progressive tax experience obtained through a minimum of three (2) years working full time in tax at a public accounting firm or large corporation in industry for a total of at least (5) years’ experience combined accounting and tax
  • Advanced computer skills
