The salary range shown above reflects the expected  compensation for this position. The final salary offered will be determined based on a holistic assessment of the candidate’s experience, education, training, and alignment with the role’s requirements. For positions covered by a collective agreement, placement within the range will follow the applicable step or classification.

 

Responsible for supporting Toronto Hydro's corporate strategy and enterprise risk management initiatives through hands-on project management, research, and analysis. Acts as a project manager for strategic initiatives and enterprise risk projects of standard-to-moderate complexity, working under the guidance of senior team members and management.

 

Conducts market intelligence research and data collection to support environmental scanning activities. Performs strategic analysis and provides analytical support to inform executive decision-making. The incumbent is responsible for building implementation plans, project charters, risk assessments, mitigation plans, and roadmap milestones, executing project status reporting, and maintaining tracking systems and dashboards.

 

Participates in the development and maintenance of tools, templates, and frameworks to enhance strategic planning and risk management practices across the organization. Builds working-level relationships with business unit contacts to coordinate project activities and gather information in support of enterprise-wide strategic and risk objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Applies strong facilitation and planning skills to manage the successful execution and alignment of the corporate strategic plan and enterprise risk management program
  • Designs and implements tools, methodologies, and systems to support oversight of the enterprise risk management program and corporate strategic planning
  • Develops tools and leverages technology to enhance the effectiveness of corporate strategy and enterprise risk management processes
  • Builds strong internal partnerships to understand business unit needs and support their goals while maintaining an enterprise‑wide strategic perspective
  • Leads strategic initiatives by facilitating status‑reporting with business partners, developing charters, roadmaps, and dashboards, consolidating updates for senior leaders, and supporting projects in establishing risk management frameworks and assessing risk exposure
  • Supports enterprise risk management by collecting, analyzing, and reporting risk data, conducting quarterly risk interviews with business units, and maintaining the enterprise risk register including heat‑map preparation
  • Participates in complex strategic assessments, evaluates potential courses of action, and develops recommendations to address business challenges and opportunities
  • Supports strategic analysis, utilizing methodologies such as gap analysis, jurisdictional scans, stakeholder engagement, SWOT analysis, and scenario planning to identify opportunities, align teams, and drive actionable outcomes through interactive facilitated exercises
  • Supports the collection and analysis of internal and external data to identify industry trends, emerging risks, and market developments
  • Synthesizes insights into clear, actionable reports that inform both corporate strategy and enterprise risk planning

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • Professional designation or certification preferred (e.g., PMP, risk management, P. Eng.)
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of professional experience in planning and executing corporate strategy and/or enterprise risk management with exposure to complex projects and cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience with electrical utility or other highly regulated industries is an asset
  • Previous internal or external experience in strategy and risk consulting considered an asset

 

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience executing project activities across the full lifecycle for initiatives of standard-to-moderate complexity, including scope definition, tracking, reporting, and risk mitigation
  • Solid understanding and practical application of risk management best practices and standards such as COSO ERM 2017 (Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission), ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management Guidelines, and/or electricity industry Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) frameworks
  • Proficient in risk and project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with strategic planning frameworks and analytical methodologies (SWOT analysis, gap analysis, scenario planning)
  • Working knowledge of the electricity sector, including distribution utility business models, regulatory environment (Ontario Energy Board), and key industry players
  • Understanding of key market trends impacting the energy sector (electrification, distributed energy resources, grid modernization, climate change)
  • Knowledge of sustainability risk concepts and ESG factors is an asset

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with ability to break down complex problems into manageable components
  • Ability to conduct research, synthesize information from multiple sources, and draw sound conclusions with appropriate guidance
  • Data analytics skills including financial modeling, cost-benefit analysis, and quantitative risk assessment
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to produce accurate, high-quality analytical work

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with ability to build collaborative working relationships across departments and functions
  • Commitment to partnering with business units to understand their objectives and support their success while maintaining enterprise-wide perspective
  • Effective facilitation skills for working-level meetings and workshops
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills with ability to prepare clear, concise reports and presentations for internal audiences
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas and recommendations to stakeholders at various organizational levels

This position is based in a hybrid environment allowing for remote work two days per week, based on business needs. Employees will be required to come onsite Tuesday to Thursday. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
