The Climate Action Consultant is responsible for driving customer climate action through digital platforms and tools, data analytics, and customer engagement. As the team representative, they strategize, design, and develop digital systems and tools to support residential and small commercial customers in their decarbonization journey. The Climate Action Consultant conducts and guides others in conducting comprehensive data and market analysis and presents insights to inform customer segmentation and influence strategic decision-making. The incumbent will engage with customers and other marketplace partners to help customers accelerate decarbonization through electrification of building heating, hot water, and transportation; implementation of energy efficiency; and behind-the-meter solutions such as solar and battery storage.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Working with IT, Media & Public Relations, and Customer Care, is responsible for the selection or design of digital platforms and tools, informed by behavioral science insights, to support residential and small commercial customers in their decarbonization journey.
  • Leads market, scenario and feasibility analysis to support business cases and other Toronto Hydro decision-making consistent with corporate and climate action department strategies. Stays up to date with market research methodologies and best practices to continuously improve effectiveness of insights
  • Develops and executes multi-channel digital engagement and outreach campaigns to motivate residential and small commercial sector to decarbonize.
  • Responsible for developing content for the residential and small commercial section on Toronto Hydro’s website in coordination with the Public Relations team.
  • Prepares and presents reports and insights to guide decision making, inform business cases, and influence team priorities.
  • Undertakes research and analysis as needed to support customer climate action. Recommends areas of service improvements and provides data required to support recommendations, investment decisions and climate action program development.
  • Undertakes a visible presence in the marketplace and remains abreast of general marketplace, the basic technical aspects of climate action, and relevant association issues in their sector.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • University degree in business, market research, analytics, or behavioural science
  • Seven (7) years of relevant professional experience in customer engagement (in-person or digital) and data management
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Masters level education preferred
  • P. Eng, CEM, CET or building science training is an asset
  • Strong understanding of climate action policy and technologies
  • Knowledge of the internal operations of electrical utilities including core processes
  • Familiarity with cleantech/energy services providers and products, especially related to transportation and buildings (e.g. EV chargers, heat pumps, water heaters, DERs)
  • Understanding of Measurement & Verification requirements and methodologies an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with well-established stakeholder management skills
  • Proven customer focus with demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with internal customers, external providers, and industry contacts
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to track, monitor and report results to senior management in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong conceptual thinking, technical analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated high performance in building relationships and effective partnerships within and across organizations
  • Results-oriented approach, with the experience and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team in a considerate way, including the ability to mediate and find common ground in areas of disagreement
  • Experience in successfully managing projects from start to finish, including planning and stakeholder coordination
  • Ability to manage targets and customer service KPIs
  • Analytics and data management skills, including knowledge of applicable software and tools such as SQL, Alteryx, and Tableau

 

Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs.  Employees will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
