The salary range shown above reflects the expected compensation for this position. The final salary offered will be determined based on a holistic assessment of the candidate’s experience, education, training, and alignment with the role’s requirements. For positions covered by a collective agreement, placement within the range will follow the applicable step or classification.
The Climate Action Consultant is responsible for proactively engaging with small commercial customers in the market to drive measurable participation in the Save on Energy programs with a focus on electrification of heating, hot water and transportation, energy efficiency, or behind the meter resources. The incumbent leads and delivers outreach activities and education programs with customers and stakeholders to raise awareness about the benefits of relevant programs, removing systemic barriers and implementing solutions. Maintains a strong, visible presence in the marketplace through in-person engagement activities such as events, site visits, and community outreach, and remains abreast of general marketplace conditions, the basic technical aspects of climate action, and relevant association issues in their sector

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Actively engages customers through events, trade shows, site visits, direct outreach, and partnerships with local business organizations to drive awareness of and participation in Save on Energy programs – like the Small Business and Retrofit Programs
- Proactively establishes and nurtures strategic partnerships with multiple external stakeholders to enhance the organization’s energy efficiency and electrification offerings
- Develops and implements market engagement strategies within the assigned sector to drive participation in programs
- Monitors and evaluates the impact of market engagement efforts, making data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement and optimization.
- Provides support to customers or representative contractors, including identifying incentive programs, providing application support, connecting with pre-qualified trade allies, and identification of opportunities
- Undertakes research and analysis as needed to support customer action. Recommends areas of service improvements and provides data required to support recommendations, investment decisions and program development.
- Reports and maintains records of customer interactions with quality and accuracy. Provides analysis and insight into customer behaviors to support management decision making.
- Conducts research and keeps current with best practices, legislation changes, new developments, and trends in order to strengthen the organization’s climate action initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS:
- University degree in business, science, or a technical field
- P. Eng, CEM or CET designations strongly preferred
- Seven (7) years of professional experience in client service, climate action or conservation programs
- Excellent customer service, account management, and relationship management skills, with experience in customer facing roles
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build effective relationships internally and externally; demonstrated responsive professional attitude
- Experience driving participation in customer programs through outreach, engagement, and relationship-building
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment; ability to work well with all levels of management, staff and external contacts.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, and adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Strong influence and negotiation skills; ability to persuade or influence others to adopt or accept a point of view or take a course of action.
- Proven ability to manage and achieve targets and KPIs
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including strong presentation skills
- Solid understanding of energy efficiency and electrification technologies, opportunities and programs in residential and small commercial buildings
- Knowledge of the Save On Energy – Small Business and Retrofit program are an asset
- Understanding of Measurement & Verification requirements and methodologies an asset
- Advanced computer skills and MS-office applications especially MS Excel
- Ability to use data to monitor performance, generate insights, and inform decisions. Familiarity with data tools or analytics platforms (e.g., SQL, Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI) considered an asset
- Experience engaging with customers through community events and trade shows considered an asset
- Class “G” driver’s license

This position is based in a hybrid environment allowing for remote work two days per week, based on business needs. Employees will be required to come onsite Tuesday to Thursday. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
