CDM Project Consultant (Contract)

Reporting to the Lead, CDM Business Development, the Conservation & Demand Management (CDM) Project Consultant is a key member of the Business Development team in delivering IESO funded conservation programs. The incumbent is responsible working with customers and vendors to identify and develop energy efficiency projects, developing the technical evaluation/assessment of CDM projects, advising customers on CDM program requirements, development and review of Measurement & Verification methodologies, and the management/maintenance of documentation and databases to ensure efficient and effective CDM program operation. The CDM Project Consultant collaborates with the CDM team, customers and external parties (such as the IESO) to ensure the programs and technical guidelines are understood and properly implemented within each CDM application.

 

The incumbent is expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies and internal control procedures, laws and regulations governing Toronto Hydro.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:                                           

  • Provides technical expertise in the areas of energy efficient technologies and measures to support the development of energy management programs. This includes developing a system for tracking, monitoring and reporting on energy savings and reviewing existing energy study reports.
  • Identifies, assesses, and develops energy saving programs including both capital improvement projects and operational and maintenance changes.  This includes the preparation of business cases and supporting cost effectiveness modelling to justify capital expenditure.
  • Coordinates the implementation of energy-saving programs, including the planning, budgeting, and scheduling for the program deployment and continued program oversight.  Works with team members to develop a strategy for the Measurement & Verification of energy-saving projects.
  • Works with customers to create and foster a sustainable energy management culture at their facilities. Where possible, assist customers to promote energy conservation and communicate the energy efficiency initiatives undertaken.
  • Keeps up-to-date with CDM-related technologies, emerging technologies and new program rules and requirements; Collaborates with CDM team, IESO and other stakeholders to ensure any program updates are understood and implemented.

 

REQUIREMENTS:                                                      

  • Engineering Degree with a professional designation (i.e. CEM or CMVP) and/or professional license OR a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) from an energy related program with a professional designation (i.e. CEM or CMVP) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in the conservation field in delivering CDM programs, design of systems, completing energy assessments, energy modelling or other relevant areas preferred.
  • Strong background in energy use and energy management within industrial or commercial and institutional sectors.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of electricity usage, billing and metering of commercial and industrial customers.
  • Exceptional knowledge and understanding of conservation technologies, Measurement & Verification requirements and methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of electricity, environmental, and safety regulations.
  • Strong understanding CDM program rules and requirements.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communications skills, including public speaking.
  • Engineering and technical analysis skills.
  • Development of business cases for energy efficient projects.
