The salary range shown above reflects the expected  compensation for this position. The final salary offered will be determined based on a holistic assessment of the candidate’s experience, education, training, and alignment with the role’s requirements. For positions covered by a collective agreement, placement within the range will follow the applicable step or classification.

 

Reporting to the Manager, Engineering, the Asset Investment Analyst will provide a wide range of engineering support services that will ensure technical soundness, reliability, safety and cost effectiveness of the utility and its Electrical Distribution Power System. The incumbent is responsible for leading the development, management, and continuous improvement of processes and systems that are cross-functional. The Asset Investment Analyst will lead and/or support a number of initiatives in relation to system planning and reliability related initiatives, customer experience, strategic initiatives, analytics used to address various engineering initiatives and draw insights that drive decisions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:                                           

 

  • Lead and/or support review of deficiencies identified in our distribution system, and prioritize and issue appropriate analytical results to various stakeholders
  • Collaborates with stakeholders in ensuring asset management related concerns considering system requirements
  • Demonstrates exceptional communication skills and tact in resolving complex issues that arise up, down, and across the organization and builds strong relationships with cross-functional teams
  • Supports System Planning and Asset Management analytics across Engineering 
  • Participates in development of workflows and processes and models (descriptive, predictive and prescriptive) to drive quality, efficiency and effectiveness of reliability related initiatives
  • Compares alternatives based on cost/benefit considerations, operational constraints, standards, safety, and engineering principles, and recommends the optimum solution.
  • Provides timely support and consultation, demonstrates effective project management and process efficiencies; reviews develop, and/or presents business proposals, plans, designs, processes, operational procedures, and practices.
  • Actively supports the Manager in preparation of the monthly status report by measuring, monitoring, and updating relevant KPIs
  • Participates in implementing corporate goals/objectives 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Three (3)+ years of relevant professional experience in utility (preferred), manufacturing, consulting, mining or related industry, with a focus on data analysis and management
  • G class license preferred
  • Fluent in the application of enterprise tools for planning and project estimation (i.e. GEAR, SAP, etc), general office software, CAD, AM/FM, engineering records, and specialized engineering application software.
  • Masters in Electrical Engineering an asset
  • Project Management experience with good knowledge of planning processes is an asset
  • Experience with Alteryx, SQL and Tableau (preferably in a utility environment) is considered an asset
  • Experience with data analysis and data mining techniques to address and resolve gaps in data
  • Fully proficient with Microsoft Excel including VBA
  • Effective skills in project management operations, budgeting, business process, and productivity improvements
  • Knowledge of ML/AI concepts such as Supervised and Unsupervised Machine Learning models with a demonstrated project or prior work experience considered an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge/training in asset management practices is an asset
  • Specific Knowledge in power systems, electrical distribution, and computer applications is an asset
  • Self-motivated, operates with a high degree of independence and can visualize opportunities for change in support of continuous process improvement
  • Aptitude and experience in adapting to, managing, and facilitating change, willing to challenge the status quo
  • Strong negotiating/relationship-building ability
  • Proven effective problem-solving and analytical ability
  • Customer focused
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant safety and environmental legislation and regulations

This position is based in a hybrid environment allowing for remote work two days per week, based on business needs. Employees will be required to come onsite Tuesday to Thursday. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
