Reporting to the Manager, Customer Connections Planning & Technical Analysis, the Asset Investment Analyst will provide a wide range of engineering support services that will ensure technical soundness, reliability, safety and cost effectiveness of the utility and its Electrical Distribution Power System. The Asset Investment Analyst is responsible for data management, data analytics, identifying gaps and trends as well as producing reports related to the customer connections’ requests. Other responsibilities include developing processes, procedures and tools to ensure program governance and compliance; developing and automating reports to assist leaders in the effective management of various work programs. The Asset Investment Analyst will work with internal stakeholders to build and foster relationships to proactively and reactively support and improve the customer connections group.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:                                           

  • Acts as the primary point of contact to assist with incoming communications from all channels related to customer connections, analysis of ongoing requests, maintain records, develop reports, and support data quality programs to improve the accuracy of asset data
  • Identifies gaps and trends and performs analyses to determine root causes and develops recommended solutions
  • Identifies workflow automation opportunities utilizing available tools and systems (e.g., Alteryx)
  • Identifies opportunities to improve analytics and decision support using visualization software (e.g., Tableau)
  • Provide timely technical support and consultation, demonstrate effective project management and process efficiencies; review, develop and/or present business proposals, plans, designs, processes, operational procedures and practices.
  • Play significant role in the strategic development of Asset Management capabilities across  Customer Connections department by leading working groups across business units to drive business process improvements and system implementation initiatives 
  • Perform data profiling to produce data quality metrics and assess associated risks involved in integrating or converting data for new applications
  • Conduct analysis involving large data sets and multiple variables in response to data needs, and support Asset Records by improving the quality of data within Toronto Hydro
  • Creates a repository of centralized reporting to track and maintain records and reports for all customer connections requests. Validate, manipulate and export data related to GIS and EAM systems for quality and completeness
  • Runs periodic checks on database tables to ensure that the data is valid and consistent
  • Perform analysis of process and system changes to identify and communicate impacts 
  • Develop process maps and workflow visualizations to support strategic decision making
  • Provide input to team to advance and improve customer connection account management systems, processes and tools
  • Participate and collaborate with various internal stakeholders 
  • Contribute to Asset System and Information Management policy and procedure development; recommend changes, additions, deletions to business and data validation rules

 

REQUIREMENTS:                                                    

  • Undergraduate degree preferably in Engineering, Electrical, Information Systems, Geography/GIS programs and/or related discipline 
  • Five (5) years of data management, process optimization, analysis for business projects, identification of areas for improvement and development of new information quality improvement initiatives
  • Experience with Python/R, Alteryx, SQL, Robotics Process Automation (RPA) and Tableau considered an asset
  • Fully proficient in the use of the entire Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project, Visio and Dynamics 365 (CRM)
  • Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Solid understanding of relational database systems, possess the ability to transform raw data in different formats into various analytical reports
  • Project management designation considered an asset

  • Knowledge/training in asset management practices is an asset
  • Solid understanding of relational database systems, possess the ability to transform raw data in different formats into various analytical reports

 

Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs.  Employees will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
