Reporting to the Manager, Customer Connections Intake, the Asset Investment Analyst will provide a wide range of engineering support services that will ensure technical soundness, reliability, safety and cost effectiveness of the utility and its Electrical Distribution Power System. The Asset Investment Analyst is responsible for data management, data analytics and business process improvements related to GIS (Geographic Information System), Customer Connections Intake, Pre-design and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) projects. The incumbent will play a critical role in shaping GIS and EAM application enhancement and upgrade activities through gap analysis, business process planning and stakeholder collaboration.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:                                           

  • Acts as the primary point of contact to assist with incoming communications from all channels related to customer connections and general inquires received through the customer connections online channels.

  • Assists with the customer connections pre-design process for Low Voltage and High Voltage  requests.

  • Play significant role in the strategic development of Asset Management capabilities across  Customer Connections department by leading working groups across business units to drive business process improvements and system implementation initiatives 

  • Creates a repository of centralized reporting to track and maintain records and reports for all customer connections requests.Validate, manipulate and export data related to GIS and EAM systems for quality and completeness

  • Develops reports, maps, analysis, and support data quality programs to improve the accuracy of asset data

  • Runs periodic checks on database tables to ensure that the data is valid and consistent

  • Perform analysis of process and system changes to identify and communicate impacts 

  • Develop process maps and workflow visualizations to support strategic decision making 

  • Assess and manage risk and issues specific to Geographic Information System and Enterprise Asset Management application implementation and/or upgrades 

  • Perform data profiling to produce data quality metrics and assess associated risks involved in integrating or converting data for new applications 

  • Facilitate and support the preparation for the 2025-2029 CIR Filing by identifying and executing improvement opportunities

  • Contribute to Asset System and Information Management policy and procedure development; recommend changes, additions, deletions to business and data validation rules

  • Support Asset Management data needs to improve the quality and reliability of the Asset Management data; as well as perform information management by supporting various corporate data sources

  • Participate and collaborate with various internal stakeholders 

  • Provide timely technical support and consultation, demonstrate effective project management and process efficiencies; review, develop and/or present business proposals, plans, designs, processes, operational procedures and practices.

  • Investigate and evaluate the application of new technologies and tools

REQUIREMENTS:                                                    

  • Undergraduate degree preferably in Engineering, Electrical, Information Systems, Geography/GIS programs and/or related discipline 

  • Three (3) years of data management, process optimization, analysis for business projects, identification of areas for improvement and development of new information quality improvement initiatives

  • Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

  • Solid understanding of relational database systems, possess the ability to transform raw data in different formats into various analytical reports

  • Experience with Python/R, Alteryx, SQL, Robotics Process Automation (RPA) and Tableau considered an asset

  • Project management designation considered an asset

  • Self-motivated, operates with a high degree of independence and takes ownership of work, striving for a standard of excellence

  • Aptitude and experience in adapting to, managing and facilitating change, as well as a willingness to challenge the status quo

  • Builds strong relationships and manages stakeholders across the organization in order to enable effective delivery of projects

  • Demonstrated leadership skills; strategic thinking, openness to new ideas, and strong communication skills

  • Fully proficient in the use of the entire Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Access, Project,Visio and Dynamics 365 (CRM)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven effective problem-solving and analytical ability

  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to predict and understand technological trends and their effect on business or strategic work plans

  • Excellent analytical, technical, and business solution development skills, including the proven ability to function effectively in a dynamic environment

  • Champions Change, Productivity and Innovation; learns and adopts continuous improvement and productivity methods

  • Knowledge/training in asset management practices is an asset

  • Solid understanding of relational database systems, possess the ability to transform raw data in different formats into various analytical reports

Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs.  Employees will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
