Reporting to the Manager, Customer Connections Analytics & Reporting, the Asset Investment Analyst will provide a wide range of business operations and engineering support services that will ensure technical soundness, reliability, safety and cost effectiveness of the utility and its Electrical Distribution Power System. The Asset Investment Analyst is responsible for the effective analysis and development of processes, procedures and tools to ensure governance and compliance throughout the customer connection program. This role is responsible for data management and analytics, identifying gaps and process improvements, conducting research and preparing reports, leading and supporting department projects, programs and performance objectives and providing technical support for customer connection requests. The incumbent will work with internal and external stakeholders to effectively resolve issues, provide subject matter expertise and close gaps as required. The incumbent will provide support for monthly divisional reporting, budgeting and forecasting.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Monitor, track, gather, analyze, and present data with recommendations for decision making
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support the end-to-end implementation and delivery for customer connection requests and ensure Toronto Hydro standards and conditions of service guidelines are met.
  • Provide timely technical support and consultation for customer connection requests, demonstrate effective project management and process efficiencies; review, develop and/or present business proposals, plans, designs, processes, operational procedures and practices
  • Develop processes, procedures and tools in enterprise software (SAP, Tableau, Alteryx, etc.) to assist in the efficient and effective management of programs and reporting on data metrics
  • Provides process leadership and seeks opportunities to develop, re-engineer or enhance existing processes to meet reporting, regulatory or best practice requirements
  • Prepare and analyze departmental performance metrics and scorecards. Assists with the preparation of strategic business plans to align with corporate objectives and ensure customer connection KPI’s and strategic objectives are met
  • Play a significant role in the strategic development and continuous improvement within customer connections by leading working groups across business units to drive business process improvements and system implementation initiatives
  • Lead and support departmental projects and programs including performing quantitative and qualitative analysis, providing recommendations and managing projects through to implementation
  • Conduct analysis involving large data sets and multiple variables in response to data needs, and support records by improving the quality of data within Toronto Hydro
  • Integrates and interprets data, prepares presentations and supporting documentation to communicate results of analysis and recommendations to the Leadership team for decision making
  • Develop and maintain process maps and workflow visualizations to support strategic decision making
  • Participate and collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders such as designers, customers, contractors, crews, etc.
  • Investigate and evaluate the application of new technologies and tools. Support testing and implementation of various system enhancements in SAP & Oracle Customer Care & Billing (CC&B) System
  • Contribute to Asset System and Information Management policy and procedure development; recommend changes, additions, deletions to business and data validation rules

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Undergraduate degree preferably in Engineering (Electrical), Business, Information Systems, and/or related discipline 
  • Three (3) years of experience in data management, advanced analytics, process optimization, analysis for business projects, identification of areas for improvement and development of new information quality improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge and application of Distribution system code, OEB regulations, conditions of service
  • Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Solid understanding of relational database systems, possess the ability to transform raw data in different formats into various analytical reports
  • Experience with Alteryx, Tableau, SQL, Excel is preferred
  • Knowledge of SAP is an asset
  • Good understanding of business issues and challenges, specifically in a customer service environment
  • Proficient in development of process and system automation through automation tools and scripting
  • Self-motivated, operates with a high degree of independence and takes ownership of work, striving for a standard of excellence
  • Aptitude and experience in adapting to, managing and facilitating change, as well as a willingness to challenge the status quo
  • Builds strong relationships and manages stakeholders across the organization in order to enable effective delivery of projects

  • Fully proficient in the use of the entire Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Dynamics 365 (CRM)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to predict and understand technological trends and their effect on business or strategic work plans
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and business solution development skills, including the proven ability to function effectively in a dynamic environment
  • Champions Change, Productivity and Innovation; learns and adopts continuous improvement and productivity methods
  • Knowledge/training in asset management practices is an asset

Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs.  Employees will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
