The Asset Investment Analyst is responsible for supporting the development, management and continuous improvement of processes and systems that are cross-functional in nature.  The incumbent supports the standards and materials engineers and technologists in the development of standards and specifications.  Working within the Standards & Procurement area, the incumbent participates in short- and long-range strategic planning and supports the preparation of engineering, technical, or business reports and studies, and demonstrates effective project management and process efficiencies. The Analyst’s primary assignments will be to enable and streamline projects that help accelerate building and transportation electrification connections in support of Toronto Hydro’s Climate Action objectives.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Actively supports the team in preparation of technical specifications, standards and studies, investigation and evaluation of new technologies.
  • Compares alternatives based on cost/benefit considerations, customer needs, safety, statistical analysis and engineering principles, and recommends the optimum solution.
  • Provides timely support and consultation, demonstrates effective project management and process efficiencies; reviews, develops and/or presents business proposals, plans, designs, processes, operational procedures and practices.
  • Engages with internal and external stakeholders to analyze different technical perspectives on proposed initiatives, including standards revisions and equipment approvals.
  • Supports engineers in preparation of technical training documents and equipment roll-out.
  • Liaises with internal stakeholders and external vendors to coordinate testing and training for new products and equipment. 
  • Stay current with industry best practices in business, process methodologies and technologies and recommend solutions to positively impact business results; conduct research on industry and market trends.
  • Supports development and drafting of construction standards using MicroStation

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in data mining including programming, process optimization, analysis for business projects, identification of areas for improvement and development of new initiatives.
  • Project management designation considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of electricity distribution engineering, construction, safety rules, regulations.
  • Knowledge of and experience with distribution products and equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge of business case development, business process re-engineering techniques and process optimization.
  • Fully proficient in use of Microsoft Office including MS Excel, Access, Visio, and other Project Management tools.
  • Awareness of project management processes, principles and methodologies.
  • Ability to synthesize, evaluate and integrate information from multiple sources, and to provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on inter-departmental teams and across organizational boundaries.
  • Solid understanding of business issues and challenges, and demonstrates tact and diplomacy specifically in a customer engagement/stakeholder management environment.
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and business solution development skills, including the proven ability to function effectively in a dynamic environment within a multi-disciplinary team setting.
  • Ability to develop dependable feedback systems and tracking.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation, and report writing skills.

 

Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs.  Employees will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
