The Asset Investment Analyst will provide a wide range of engineering support services that will ensure technical soundness, reliability, safety and cost effectiveness of the utility and its Electrical Distribution Power System. The Asset Investment Analyst is responsible for data management, data analytics and business process improvements related to Grid Operational Technologies and Reliability Reporting. The incumbent will play a critical role in shaping SCADA, NMS, and other critical application enhancement and upgrade activities through gap analysis, business process planning and stakeholder collaboration.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

  • Play significant role in the strategic development of the Operational Technologies roadmap across Distribution Grid Operations by leading working groups across business units and senior management to drive business process improvements and system implementation initiatives
  • Perform analysis of process and system changes to identify and communicate impacts
  • Develop process maps and workflow visualizations to support strategic decision making
  • Support reliability reporting across Distribution Grid Operations by collecting, analyzing outage information and providing recommendations for improvements
  • Performs operational design reviews on all primary electrical projects
  • Performs load transfer studies, and participates in short- and long-term contingency planning
  • Work with various stakeholders (Engineering, Stations, & Distribution Services groups) in the planning, design, and construction of new or existing primary electrical distribution plant
  • Reviews engineering, technical or business reports and studies; performs analysis, testing and evaluations
  • Develop, Implement and Maintain the Grid Diagnostics roadmap to improve situational awareness within Grid Operations
  • Maintains and further develops databases or decision support tools and systems
  • Assist with Building and maintaining the SCADA database and displays
  • Performs trend analyses of equipment data and determines appropriate actions to improve and optimize capital and operations programs


REQUIREMENTS:
 

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering preferred
  • Three (3) – Five (5) plus years of experience, preferably in utility industry operations
  • Experience in data mining including programming, process optimization, analysis for business projects, identification of areas for improvement and development of new initiatives
  • Experience with review of electrical design and specifications for various distribution system configuration
  • Knowledge of reliability reporting, control room workflow and utility work protection code preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Operating technologies such as Network Management System, Energy Center, SCADA, PI, OUA
  • Solid understanding of relational database systems, possess the ability to transform raw data in different formats into various analytical reports Knowledge of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Process Mining is preferred
  • Specific knowledge in power systems, electrical distribution, and computer applications is an asset Knowledge of Alteryx or Tableau for data analysis is an asset
  • Ability to predict and understand technological trends and their effect on business or strategic work plans.
  • Knowledge of Geographic Information System
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge/training in asset management practices is an asset
  • Fluent in the application of information technology, such as general office software, engineering records, and specialized engineering application software

Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs.  Employees will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
